“Supporting Parents Of Children with Autism & Asperger’s Syndrome”.

SPOCAAS started as a small group of parents meeting informally to provide peer-to-peer support.  In November 2008, SPOCAAS became a committee of Community Living & Respite Services Inc (CLRS). Today the group has an Executive Committee and an extensive membership of parents, extended family members, carers, individuals on the spectrum and members of the wider community. SPOCAAS meets regularly at Morning Coffee Club, Evening Coffee Club and monthly Committee Meetings. SPOCAAS also hosts special events that assist with education, promote awareness/understanding and most importantly assist with the wellbeing on the families.

SPOCAAS aims to,

• Provide a place for informal parent-to-parent support with like-minded carers managing Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), involving all ages and all abilities. (A diagnosis is not needed)
• Build partnerships within the ASD community
• Promote ASD awareness, understanding and opportunities for further learning about ASD
• Develop a comprehensive ASD resource library
• Eliminate isolation of families managing the impact of ASD

SPOCAAS welcomes enquiries from all those managing ASD:
parents, carers, individuals, grandparents, siblings, schools and the wider community

SPOCAAS Committee Nominations are now open!!!

Currently the committee consists of seven parent representatives, Linke Smedts-Kreskas, Elissa Plumridge, Sherri Cincotta, Melanie Portwine, Isabel Morris, Chris Lawrence and Anna Raftry with a representative from the CLRS Board of Management, Fran Galvin.
