SPOCAAS - Who we are
Who We Are

SPOCAAS stands for “Supporting Parents Of Children with Autism & Asperger’s Syndrome”.

SPOCAAS started as a small group of parents meeting informally to provide peer-to-peer support.  In November 2008, SPOCAAS became a committee of CLRS and it now consists of an Executive Committee, a General Committee (including Project Teams), Family/Carer Members and General Members. SPOCAAS meets in various ways including a Morning Coffee Club, an Evening Coffee Club, and a Monthly Morning tea with onsite free childcare. SPOCAAS also hosts special events that assist with education, promote awareness/understanding and most importantly assist with the wellbeing on the families.

SPOCAAS,

  • Provides a place for informal parent-to-parent support with like-minded carers managing Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), involving all ages and all abilities. A diagnosis is not needed
  • Builds partnerships within the ASD community
  • Promotes ASD awareness, understanding and opportunities for further learning about ASD
  • Has developed an ASD resource library and provides accessible information
  • Aims to eliminate isolation of families managing the impact of ASD

SPOCAAS welcomes enquiries from all those managing ASD:
parents, carers, grandparents, siblings, schools and the wider community

SPOCAAS is for all ages & all abilities
