Community Living & Respite Services Inc. is a community, not-for-profit organisation. We receive funding through the Department of Health and Human Services and other sources to provide a range of accommodation support and respite services for people with disability and their carers. All volunteers involved in direct client contact, or managing services, must consent to a Victorian Police Check for pre –employment safety screening.

If your police check has a disclosable record, Community Living & Respite Services Inc. will need to inform the Department of Health and Human Services to discuss the record and nature of the record. This contact will only occur if a decision is made prior to commencement of your volunteering role. A disclosable record does not necessarily mean that you are unable to volunteer for our organisation.

Referee checks also form an essential part of the safety screening process. As part of referee checks, 2 referees will be asked whether they have knowledge or information concerning the applicant, which would adversely affect the applicant from performing the job, including any relevant criminal offences.

If you are successful in the application for a volunteer role with Community Living & Respite Services Inc. your police check reference number will remain on file, in a secure place, for the duration of your volunteer placement.

If you are assessed as unsuitable due to a disclosable record from Victoria Police, then following any unsuccessful review process, the police record check and associated papers will be destroyed.

The contribution of volunteers is valued and assists CLRS to provide quality services in our community!  We look forward to hearing from you!
